Nourishing our Neighbors grant increases access to nutritious food; provides nutritional education

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (December 16, 2025) — FiftyForward, a leading resource for adults 50 and older in Middle Tennessee, has received $3,200 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help nourish neighbors experiencing hunger. The Nourishing our Neighbors grant supports community feeding partners by helping neighbors increase their access to nutritious food and providing nutrition education to eliminate health risks for those experiencing food insecurity.

The Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation is committed to supporting families facing food insecurity across its 10-state footprint. Established in 2001, the Foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding local neighbors in the communities it serves. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded over $25 million in grant funding to help nourish communities with fresh food.

FiftyForward was recently awarded a $5,000 grant through the R.H. Boyd Family Endowment Fund to support FiftyForward Supportive Care Services. Tennessee first lady Maria Lee, rising K-6th graders assist local seniors for day of service

Through a Summer Challenge program led by Tennessee First Lady Marie Lee, rising K-6th graders participated in various service projects to assist seniors on Thursday, June 6, at FiftyForward Madison Station. Participating students helped with gardening, cleaning, fitness and craft projects from noon to 1:30 p.m. In addition to the camaraderie of the day, attendees enjoyed refreshments, including Kona Ice.
